Crisis on the Border

Date: March 2017
Client: RYOT
Some human experiences are so important, so profound, that traditional storytelling methods prove insufficient. They must be felt rather than just seen. Spherica teamed up with RYOT to produce the two-part VR documentary "Crisis on the Border" which tells the heart wrenching stories of migrants trying to get across the wall that borders Arizona and Mexico. Spherica's team travelled deep into the Arizona desert and to both the US and Mexico sides of the border wall located in Nogales. “Crisis on the Border” was produced as part of the virtual reality news series “The Turnaround: Your World in 360.” Both episodes of the documentary were featured by Newseum in Washington D.C. among the “Top 10 VR Videos of the Month” (May and June) and at the Journalism360 showcase at the 2017 Excellence in Journalism Conference.
